TYPES OF FORENSIC TESTING GenQuest   works   closely   with   law   enforcement   and   legal   agencies   to   ensure   the   testing   process   is conducted    in    accordance    with    the    ANAB    standards    whenever    possible.    Tests    offered    by GenQuest include:   o Biological Screening o Autosomal (STR) DNA Testing  o Male Lineage (Y-STR) Testing o Forensic Paternity Testing  SAMPLE INFORMATION GenQuest    accepts    buccal    swabs,    blood    cards,    and    other    items    from    the    Office    of    Medical Examiners   or   coroner   (in   some   circumstances)   as   reference   samples   for   a   forensic   DNA   test. Evidentiary    items    do    not    need    to    be    submitted    with    a    reference    sample.    There    is    never    a guarantee   that   an   evidentiary   item   will   provide   a   usable   profile.   If   you   have   a   potential   sample and   are   not   sure   where   a   profile   might   be   obtained   from   it,   please   contact   our   analysts   to determine   whether   or   not   it   could   possibly   yield   a   profile.   Please   visit   our   Nonstandard   Samples   page or more information on evidentiary items. GenQuest   recommends   handling   any   potential   samples   with   gloves   to   avoid   contamination. Place   the   samples   in   paper   envelopes,   bags,   or   cardboard   boxes   and   ship   dry   to   avoid   DNA degradation   and   therefore   loss   of   potential   evidence.   Placing   samples   in   plastic   containers   is never recommended and could lead to the aforementioned degradation. If   you   know   where   you   would   like   GenQuest   to   test,   please   indicate   the   area   with   a   marker   or tape around the area or by identifying the area in writing.
