Prenatal paternity testing is performed before a child is born in order to determine the father. Currently GenQuest tests for paternity of an unborn child in conjunction with other prenatal medical testing, such as Amniocentesis or Chorionic Villas Sampling (CVS) to determine genetic disorders. If you are already having one of these procedures performed to determine a genetic disorder, you can talk with the collector to try and set aside a small portion for relatedness testing with GenQuest. Locating a collector for these samples is the responsibility of the individual. GenQuest does not test for genetic disorders, only genetic relatedness. These methods do present a risk of miscarriage and are not recommended for paternity testing only. Please feel free to contact GenQuest to discuss what option may work best for you. GenQuest currently recommends simply performing a standard buccal swab collection once the baby is born, as this is a safe and non-invasive collection that can be performed even on a newborn. Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing coming soon.
